00:00:24.559 --> 00:00:25.920
Hey, what's up, guys?
00:00:26.000 --> 00:00:28.399
Welcome to a new episode of Demo with Mo.
00:00:28.879 --> 00:00:31.199
I am your host, Monique Simmons.
00:00:31.440 --> 00:00:37.679
And today we are going to be discussing should you get married, young?
00:00:39.280 --> 00:00:45.679
I am currently reminiscing on when my husband and I started dating.
00:00:46.159 --> 00:00:50.880
My husband and I started dating our senior year in high school.
00:00:51.200 --> 00:01:07.840
So right now, we're looking at about 20 years we have been in a relationship with one another since we started the dating process all the way up to now 15 years married.
00:01:08.719 --> 00:01:40.719
And it got me to thinking because this October, right now, if you're listening, again, if you're listening to this live, this is around the time that we started being official, being serious about it, because my husband and I we became friends around our sophomore year in high school, but we didn't actually begin dating until our senior year in high school.
00:02:03.599 --> 00:02:29.039
Well, this past weekend, my son and his girlfriend spent some time at our house, and we took them out, and it just got me to thinking about my husband and I's dating history and being in a relationship and getting married at a young age and starting our family and bringing us up to where we are now.
00:02:29.199 --> 00:02:45.199
It just got me to thinking about all of those things and reminiscing about the past and remembering where we came from and all of the things that we've walked through in our journey and all of the things that have gotten us to the place that we are currently now.
00:02:45.520 --> 00:02:59.599
The fact that we even have a child that's old enough to date and to be at the place where we once were, where it all started, where it all began for us.
00:03:01.199 --> 00:03:26.479
And it got me to thinking that this would be a great conversation because I know I personally know a lot of couples who got married young, most who are still married to this day, some who are no longer married, and I know there are a lot of couples even now, still today, who get married young, not as many as in the past, but there are still some.
00:03:26.639 --> 00:03:32.479
And it just got me to thinking do couples still want to get married young?
00:03:32.639 --> 00:03:35.199
Is that still a thing that people want to do?
00:03:35.360 --> 00:03:37.439
What are the pros of getting married young?
00:03:37.599 --> 00:03:40.719
What are the cons of getting married young?
00:03:41.280 --> 00:03:43.840
Is it something that you personally desire?
00:03:44.000 --> 00:03:45.680
Is it something that you're against?
00:03:46.479 --> 00:03:47.759
How do you feel about it?
00:03:47.919 --> 00:03:49.360
What are your thoughts about it?
00:03:49.599 --> 00:03:50.960
Have you ever considered it?
00:03:51.120 --> 00:03:54.479
Is it something that you want for your child or your children?
00:03:57.199 --> 00:04:00.319
And that's something that I've often even thought of for myself.
00:04:00.479 --> 00:04:03.280
Is this something that I want for my kids?
00:04:03.520 --> 00:04:08.719
But I'm also one of those people who I want my kids to walk out their own lives.
00:04:08.879 --> 00:04:33.920
I want them to see what I've modeled for them, but I also want them to have their own experience, to trust God and have that personal relationship with Him for themselves and see what it is that that journey that God would have for their own lives, and not to do what I did, but to what is it that you desire for your own life?
00:04:34.240 --> 00:04:36.800
What are the plans that God has for you?
00:04:36.959 --> 00:04:39.199
That's something I've tried to model for my kids.
00:04:40.000 --> 00:04:40.959
Do that.
00:04:41.839 --> 00:04:47.920
So I'm just I thought it would be a great conversation to talk about on today's episode.
00:04:48.319 --> 00:04:54.720
So we're going to be discussing the pros and the cons of getting married young.
00:04:54.959 --> 00:05:01.439
Because even though I got married young, I'm not a one way or the other.
00:05:02.480 --> 00:05:16.399
But I think this is more of a person to person, couple to couple, because I don't think every answer fits every person's circumstance.
00:05:18.319 --> 00:05:33.839
Getting married young has pros like growing together, sharing milestones, and cons, such as a higher risk of divorce, potential financial strain, and personal development challenges.
00:05:34.079 --> 00:05:45.120
While there's an opportunity to build a life together, but from the start, a lack of maturity and experience can make the decision more difficult.
00:05:45.439 --> 00:05:51.920
And priorities can change significantly as you both grow older.
00:05:52.720 --> 00:05:58.160
So again, there are a lot of pros and there also are a lot of cons.
00:05:58.399 --> 00:06:02.879
So again, I think it really varies person to person, couple to couple.
00:06:03.199 --> 00:06:06.160
Every circumstance will not be the same.
00:06:06.399 --> 00:06:08.879
Every couple will not be the same.
00:06:09.040 --> 00:06:11.279
We all don't come from the same backgrounds.
00:06:11.439 --> 00:06:13.040
We all don't think the same.
00:06:13.279 --> 00:06:17.040
Our maturity levels are not all the same.
00:06:17.680 --> 00:06:25.120
It's not one umbrella statement, one umbrella answer for every person, every couple, every situation.
00:06:25.439 --> 00:06:31.680
So listen to the pros, listen to the cons, and you see what works best for you.
00:06:31.839 --> 00:06:42.959
And this is specifically for my couples, for my individuals who are currently dating and thinking about desiring, looking forward to marriage.
00:06:43.360 --> 00:06:45.279
This is specifically for you.
00:06:45.439 --> 00:06:50.079
If you know somebody, you may want to share this episode with them.
00:06:50.399 --> 00:06:59.519
If you have kids, children who are currently dating, this would be a great topic, great episode for them.
00:07:00.000 --> 00:07:02.879
So let's talk about some pros of getting married young.
00:07:03.040 --> 00:07:05.120
And I thought these were some really great ones.
00:07:05.279 --> 00:07:09.680
I've experienced these on both sides, the pros and the cons.
00:07:10.800 --> 00:07:13.600
First, grow together.
00:07:13.839 --> 00:07:23.920
You can grow and mature as a couple, supporting each other through life's ups and downs, and developing as individuals at a similar pace.
00:07:24.399 --> 00:07:42.399
So versus when you come into a relationship later in life, where you guys have already or may have already been on the trajectory of your careers, where you want to be in life, or where you've kind of grown in life.
00:07:42.639 --> 00:07:53.199
When you get married young, you guys get to go on that journey together versus already being where you may desire to be, where you want to be.
00:07:53.439 --> 00:08:04.399
When you meet someone later in life, when you get married young, you start dating young, you get to experience that beautiful journey of growing together.
00:08:05.360 --> 00:08:31.600
You're alone for the ride, you get to see where it all began, and you get to witness one another becoming the person that you both want to be, and that's in all areas in your careers as parents, if you guys want to have children in your spiritual walk.
00:08:31.839 --> 00:08:34.080
This is in all areas of your life.
00:08:34.240 --> 00:08:36.480
You guys get to grow together.
00:08:36.639 --> 00:08:42.159
And don't get me wrong, these things can still happen in later in life because we never stop growing.
00:08:42.240 --> 00:08:52.000
I hope you don't ever get complacent where you stop growing, but when you get married younger in life, a lot of times it's like a blank slate.
00:08:52.159 --> 00:08:57.360
You haven't really done a lot, so you guys really get to grow together.
00:08:58.000 --> 00:09:01.279
Next, shared milestones.
00:09:02.240 --> 00:09:12.639
You get to experience and celebrate many of life's major events together, from career beginnings to starting a family.
00:09:12.879 --> 00:09:28.879
So this kind of piggybacks are growing together, those shared milestones, all those major moments, because a lot of those major moments they happen earlier in life, and you guys get to experience that together.
00:09:29.200 --> 00:09:45.679
Um, what usually happens, and this is not in all circumstances, when you meet someone later in life, when you get married later in life, some of these things, a lot of these things have already happened.
00:09:45.840 --> 00:09:48.159
And again, this is not a blanket statement.
00:09:48.240 --> 00:09:50.159
This is not everyone's experience.
00:09:50.320 --> 00:09:58.240
I know people, I have friends who have gotten married later in life, and all of them, all of these things are happening for the first time.
00:09:58.399 --> 00:10:10.080
So this is not a blanket statement in everybody's experience, but sometimes when people um get married later in life, some of these major life events have already happened.
00:10:10.240 --> 00:10:15.759
So you may have missed some of these major life events with your partner or your spouse.
00:10:16.000 --> 00:10:20.960
So that's one of the pros to getting married younger.
00:10:21.200 --> 00:10:23.519
You get to share in these milestones.
00:10:24.000 --> 00:10:28.320
For a lot of couples, they get married young, they graduate college together.
00:10:28.960 --> 00:10:40.080
Because usually they start dating in college or they meet in college, so they graduate college together, or like my husband and graduating high school together because we went to high school together.
00:10:40.240 --> 00:10:46.000
So you get these major life events together, you have your first child together.
00:10:46.240 --> 00:10:57.440
Some couples, again, this is not everyone's experience, but sometimes when couples meet later in life, one of both partners may already have a child outside of their relationship.
00:10:57.519 --> 00:11:06.720
So you guys may have a blended family, but most couples, when they come, when they get married younger, they have their first child together.
00:11:06.960 --> 00:11:13.120
So you have these major life events together.
00:11:13.279 --> 00:11:15.840
You share these milestones together.
00:11:16.159 --> 00:11:19.360
Number three, less baggage.
00:11:19.600 --> 00:11:22.720
All of these are kind of tying in together.
00:11:23.039 --> 00:11:24.240
Less baggage.
00:11:24.480 --> 00:11:34.559
You can build a life together with a cleaner slate with fewer past experiences or baggage to combine with your partner.
00:11:36.879 --> 00:11:38.320
I'll say this.
00:11:39.039 --> 00:11:44.559
I even with the with the getting married young, you still can have baggage.
00:11:44.639 --> 00:11:46.960
I love that it said less baggage.
00:11:47.200 --> 00:11:48.159
Because I don't care.
00:11:48.320 --> 00:11:51.120
You still can bring baggage into the relationship.
00:11:51.360 --> 00:11:53.679
My husband and I, we brought baggage with us.
00:11:53.840 --> 00:11:59.200
Believe me, we both were rolling suitcases in with us, and we've been together since high school.
00:11:59.440 --> 00:12:02.159
So you can still roll in the baggage with you.
00:12:02.320 --> 00:12:05.360
So I just want to set the record straight there.
00:12:05.600 --> 00:12:11.759
But when you do get married younger, there is less baggage because you've lived less life.
00:12:12.000 --> 00:12:30.080
You probably have less partners behind you, you have less experiences, there's not so much or as much baggage because you're you're younger.
00:12:30.320 --> 00:12:45.039
The the the there are fewer experiences because you and your partner have been able to meet one another and get into a relationship before there have been many more experiences between the both of you.
00:12:45.200 --> 00:12:48.000
So there is less baggage.
00:12:48.799 --> 00:12:53.120
Number four, molding each other.
00:12:54.159 --> 00:13:03.039
You are not as set in your ways and can more easily help shape each other into the people you want to be.
00:13:04.399 --> 00:13:15.200
This is one that you hear a lot, especially and not even just in romantic relationships, but with just pe dealing with people in life in general.
00:13:15.440 --> 00:13:26.240
And if you're because I know I can't hear you guys, and you guys are listening to me, but like the preacher say in the pulpit, if you agree, say amen.
00:13:26.480 --> 00:13:26.799
Okay?
00:13:27.039 --> 00:13:28.159
So talk back to me.
00:13:28.320 --> 00:13:36.799
I know I can't hear you, but the statement that I'm about to make, if you agree, if you've heard it, just on the other end, say amen, okay?
00:13:37.039 --> 00:13:42.559
If you've ever heard the statement, they just set in their ways.
00:13:42.799 --> 00:13:43.919
Say amen.
00:13:44.399 --> 00:13:44.720
Okay.
00:13:45.120 --> 00:13:45.600
All right.
00:13:45.840 --> 00:13:58.240
So when you get married younger, when you're in a relationship at a younger age, people have had less time to get stuck and set in their ways.
00:13:59.440 --> 00:14:03.519
And when people get set in their ways, y'all, it is hard.
00:14:04.000 --> 00:14:08.159
It is hard to get out of your way.
00:14:08.639 --> 00:14:10.879
It's hard, it is hard.
00:14:11.200 --> 00:14:28.720
So I understand what they mean when they're saying molding each other, because you can get used to doing things your way, thinking your way, getting stuck in seeing things how you see them, how you want them, the way you're used to doing them.
00:14:29.039 --> 00:14:45.039
But marriage is about compromise, being considerate of one another, not being selfish, being motivated to about pleasing your partner, not just being about yourself.
00:14:45.519 --> 00:14:48.639
You know, that's what marriage is about.
00:14:49.440 --> 00:15:06.000
And when you get married younger, um, it don't happen overnight, but you get to learn that and grow in that when you're not so stuck in your ways.
00:15:06.320 --> 00:15:17.279
Imagine getting married at 50 for the first time, and you have been the person that you are for a long, long, long time.
00:15:17.519 --> 00:15:27.519
And now I have to get married and adjust, and you're telling me that I don't, I can't just do things the way that I've been doing them for 50 years.
00:15:27.840 --> 00:15:31.919
I can't just move the way I've been moving for 50 years.
00:15:32.000 --> 00:15:34.000
I have to be considerate of somebody else.
00:15:34.159 --> 00:15:36.720
I have to be mindful of someone else's feelings.
00:15:36.879 --> 00:15:39.519
I have to consider them in my actions.
00:15:39.600 --> 00:15:43.279
I have to check in before making decisions.
00:15:43.440 --> 00:15:46.879
I have all of these things because that's what molding is.
00:15:47.039 --> 00:15:48.399
I have to adjust.
00:15:48.639 --> 00:15:52.399
I can't just continue to do things the same way I've always done them.
00:15:52.480 --> 00:15:55.919
I can't continue to move the same way I've always been moving.
00:15:56.080 --> 00:15:58.320
That's a hard thing to do.
00:15:58.720 --> 00:16:15.519
So getting married younger, you're it's more, it's easier to help shape each other into who the other person wants you to be is going to be beneficial for your relationship and for your marriage.
00:16:15.919 --> 00:16:20.559
Lastly, last pro financial realism.
00:16:21.919 --> 00:16:38.000
Some studies suggest that marrying early can lead to more realistic financial attitudes and potentially higher earnings over time, especially if the couple plans their future together from the start.
00:16:38.240 --> 00:16:49.200
So this is based on studies that marrying early can lead to more realistic financial attitudes and potentially higher earnings over time.
00:16:49.440 --> 00:17:09.920
So when you get married earlier, you're able to, if you're open to doing this, you're able to plan out your future together from the start, and it sets you up to have higher earnings over time and have a more realistic financial attitude.
00:17:10.160 --> 00:17:13.039
I don't know about you, but that sounds good to me.
00:17:13.279 --> 00:17:17.759
And it is more realistic when you are getting married young.
00:17:18.319 --> 00:17:32.559
And then I love that it said, especially if the couple plans their future together, because it's not going to be the same if you guys are only this your money, this my money, and you guys are not working together as a couple.
00:17:33.200 --> 00:17:39.359
This would be beneficial if you guys are on the same page working together as a couple, as a team.
00:17:39.519 --> 00:17:47.279
Because if you guys do this in the beginning, if you're getting married early, it's gonna set you up for success in the future.
00:17:47.519 --> 00:17:58.799
It's not gonna be one person worried about themselves and the other person only worried about themselves, but us working together to get us where we want to be as a couple and setting us up for our future.
00:17:59.039 --> 00:18:03.759
So now we're gonna discuss the cons of getting married early.
00:18:03.839 --> 00:18:08.079
And I know there's gonna be some people that are listening, waiting to hear the cons.
00:18:08.400 --> 00:18:12.640
Because you probably already had in your mind, I'm never getting married young.
00:18:12.880 --> 00:18:16.319
I don't want to get married young, I don't want my children to get married young.
00:18:16.400 --> 00:18:20.640
I couldn't wait to send them this episode to talk them out of getting married young.
00:18:21.119 --> 00:18:24.079
I know there's somebody that's probably feeling that way.
00:18:24.240 --> 00:18:26.400
And I mean, I'm not I'm not mad at you.
00:18:26.559 --> 00:18:29.440
There are some cons to getting married young.
00:18:29.680 --> 00:18:31.279
I hope you heard the pros.
00:18:31.599 --> 00:18:37.039
I hope you just were not waiting to get to the cons, but you also heard the pros.
00:18:37.359 --> 00:18:48.319
Like you didn't weren't just listening, like you didn't just hear the words coming out of my mouth, but you were legit listening to the pros because there are some pros to getting married young.
00:18:48.480 --> 00:18:52.079
But again, this is not a blanket statement for everyone.
00:18:52.319 --> 00:18:54.960
Getting married young is not for everyone.
00:18:55.119 --> 00:18:58.400
That does not fit, it's not suitable for everyone.
00:18:58.559 --> 00:19:03.039
I don't believe everyone is ready for marriage, marriage at a young age.
00:19:03.200 --> 00:19:04.480
I don't.
00:19:04.880 --> 00:19:13.119
I do I do not, but I also don't believe that getting married young is not beneficial for everyone either.
00:19:13.359 --> 00:19:15.359
I just don't think it's a blatant statement.
00:19:15.440 --> 00:19:23.279
I do think there are some pros as the studies show, and also there are some cons as the studies show.
00:19:23.680 --> 00:19:25.359
So let's get into the cons.
00:19:26.640 --> 00:19:30.160
Lack of maturity and experience.
00:19:31.680 --> 00:19:41.599
You may lack the emotional maturity and life experience to handle the challenges of marriage, leading to more mistakes.
00:19:42.480 --> 00:19:44.960
They led off with a great one.
00:19:45.039 --> 00:19:54.880
I think this is a huge one that is you really lack the maturity, um, and definitely with the experience.
00:19:54.960 --> 00:20:10.000
I mean, I think that's just a given and a self-explanatory one because without the age depending on the age anyway, how can you have the experience?
00:20:10.240 --> 00:20:13.200
You're not gonna have a lot of relationships.
00:20:14.640 --> 00:20:17.920
So you really wouldn't have a lot of experience.
00:20:18.160 --> 00:20:21.680
Um, but the maturity is a big one.
00:20:21.759 --> 00:20:23.759
Um, the lack of maturity.
00:20:24.079 --> 00:20:35.759
When it talks about the lack of emotional maturity to handle the challenges of marriage, which will in in return lead to more mistakes.
00:20:36.400 --> 00:20:37.599
This is a con.
00:20:38.000 --> 00:20:51.359
I do, but again, this goes back to it's not a blanket umbrella statement because this would depend on person to person, couple to couple.
00:20:51.599 --> 00:20:59.920
Because there are some people who are very mature for their age, very mature for their age.
00:21:00.079 --> 00:21:08.640
They have a great head on their shoulders, they have great community around them, they have family who supports them.
00:21:08.880 --> 00:21:28.160
You know, it just it just depends on person to person, couple to couple, but a lack of maturity um is a con because things are going to come up in your marriage, in your relationship that you're going to have to face.
00:21:28.640 --> 00:21:33.440
And you're gonna need that emotional maturity to survive it, to face it.
00:21:33.519 --> 00:21:41.759
You're gonna have to have hard conversations, you're gonna have to talk about things that are uncomfortable, you're gonna have to deal with some things, face some things.
00:21:41.920 --> 00:21:48.960
There are gonna be things that are going to happen where you're gonna have to be mature.
00:21:49.200 --> 00:21:52.240
Next, higher divorce risk.
00:21:52.960 --> 00:22:01.920
Studies show that marrying young is associated with a higher risk of divorce, and this is based on studies.
00:22:02.000 --> 00:22:07.839
This is not just something that's made up, this is not something to make you feel bad about it.
00:22:08.160 --> 00:22:10.319
This is what studies show.
00:22:11.039 --> 00:22:28.160
It's associated with a higher risk of divorce, and in my case, the risk was even higher because I come from a family of divorce, so that made my risk even higher because my parents were divorced.
00:22:28.319 --> 00:22:49.279
My parents got married young and they also were divorced, so the studies show an even higher rate of divorce, a higher risk of divorce, and this is just based on studies, but again, this podcast is a podcast from a Christian perspective.
00:22:49.599 --> 00:22:52.319
So, you know what goes above studies?
00:22:52.880 --> 00:22:53.920
God does.
00:22:54.240 --> 00:23:09.839
So if you put your trust in God, not only put your trust in God, but do things God's way, because you can't say you're putting your trust in God, but then live any kind of way, do your own thing, lean to your own understanding.
00:23:10.000 --> 00:23:15.440
But if you put your trust in God and do it God's way, expect God's results.
00:23:15.680 --> 00:23:23.519
And I'm not saying everything's gonna be perfect, I'm not saying it's gonna be without troubles and without hard times and without storms.
00:23:23.839 --> 00:23:30.960
I'm not saying that because the word says in this life you will have trouble.
00:23:31.119 --> 00:23:41.920
What I'm saying is the study says marrying young is associated with a higher risk of divorce.
00:23:47.039 --> 00:23:55.440
And I'm telling you, I came from a um parent who got married young and who also divorced.
00:23:56.000 --> 00:24:00.160
So the studies show my risk of divorce is even higher.
00:24:01.519 --> 00:24:10.319
But my husband and I just celebrated 15 years of marriage, and we got married at 21, and we got married when I was 21.
00:24:10.640 --> 00:24:22.079
So all I'm saying is I know what the studies say, but I also know that I trust God and I'm doing it God's way.
00:24:22.319 --> 00:24:26.880
So, number three, financial strain.
00:24:28.000 --> 00:24:39.039
Young couples may face financial difficulties due to unstable careers, student loan debt, or the cost of starting a new life together.
00:24:39.359 --> 00:24:44.480
This is such a good one, and so realistic, and I know so many people can relate.
00:24:44.720 --> 00:24:54.960
And for my couples who got married young, and you are listening, and you have been married and have overcome this or gotten past this or on the other side of this.
00:24:55.759 --> 00:24:57.359
I know you understand.
00:24:57.599 --> 00:24:58.559
This is real.
00:24:59.200 --> 00:25:09.039
This is real, and the financial strain, it puts a strain on a relationship, and some couples cannot get past this.
00:25:09.759 --> 00:25:19.519
Money issues, financial issues is one of, and I say one of because it's not the only, one of the leading causes of divorce.
00:25:19.759 --> 00:25:22.640
So a lot of couples cannot get past this.
00:25:23.039 --> 00:25:27.440
So you remember the lack of maturity being one of the cons of divorce.
00:25:27.599 --> 00:25:50.720
So imagine being young, having a lack of maturity, and then compounding financial strain because there are couples who are much older, and then they can't even make it through financial strain in marriage, they end up being divorced because of financial issues.
00:25:50.960 --> 00:26:00.880
But I'm talking about a couple that's young who lack maturity, and they're facing the compounding issues of financial strain.
00:26:01.039 --> 00:26:05.680
They're trying to figure out themselves, they have little kids.
00:26:07.279 --> 00:26:12.640
They don't know their career issues because it talks about unstable careers.
00:26:12.720 --> 00:26:15.519
So they're trying to figure out their careers in life.
00:26:15.759 --> 00:26:36.240
Maybe one partner is still in school, maybe one partner is working, so they're living off the income of that one partner while the other partner is in school or working part-time, and the the money is not matching the debt and the bills that's coming in the house.
00:26:36.559 --> 00:26:43.279
Imagine that financial strain and how it's impacting that marriage and that relationship.
00:26:43.599 --> 00:27:19.279
And now the arguments are coming, and now the arguments are affecting the intimacy, and now the intimacy is impacting maybe the sex life, and now the sex life is not what it once was, so all of this is compounding, and I'm saying all of this because this is realistic what happens, and now one thing is compounding another thing, and one another thing is compounding another thing, and a lot of couples don't make it out of this, and this goes back to that second con study show that marrying young is associated with a higher risk of divorce.
00:27:19.440 --> 00:27:28.559
Why do you think people that get married young end up in divorce because of the lack of maturity?
00:27:28.799 --> 00:27:32.160
So when things happen, they can't withstand.
00:27:33.599 --> 00:27:38.640
Because I it wasn't supposed to be like this, it wasn't supposed to be this hard.
00:27:38.880 --> 00:27:43.279
Why I didn't marry the right person, I'm not in love anymore.
00:27:43.759 --> 00:27:45.680
My marriage is sexless.
00:27:45.839 --> 00:27:48.400
It wasn't it wasn't supposed to be like this.
00:27:48.640 --> 00:27:52.720
We argue all the time, they're not bringing in enough money.
00:27:53.279 --> 00:27:57.920
All of these different reasons, uh, all of these cons make sense.
00:28:04.960 --> 00:28:06.000
So yeah.
00:28:06.559 --> 00:28:10.480
Number four, personal development challenges.
00:28:10.720 --> 00:28:20.319
You and your partner may grow apart as you develop emotionally and intellectually at different speeds and priorities can change drastically.
00:28:20.559 --> 00:28:23.920
Oh man, oh man, this one right here is good.
00:28:24.079 --> 00:28:27.680
So remember when there was a lack of maturity and experience?
00:28:27.920 --> 00:28:29.680
And now let's fast forward to this.
00:28:29.759 --> 00:28:35.599
So you guys got married young and now you both growing, but you're growing at different rates and different speeds.
00:28:35.839 --> 00:28:42.319
So now one of you, you may be, you may was in school.
00:28:42.559 --> 00:29:04.480
Now you graduated, and now you've been on the fast track at your job, and now you supervise, and now you know you missed the big shot or misses big shot, you know, because it could it could be either or go both ways, and now you're doing big things on your job, and maybe the other the other spouse is not where they want to be on their job.
00:29:04.640 --> 00:29:15.440
Because this talks about growing at different speeds, and maybe they're not where they want to be, or not even just in your careers, but it talks about emotionally and intellectually.
00:29:15.759 --> 00:29:25.599
Maybe one partner has been going to therapy, growing, figuring out their trauma, their baggage from the past.
00:29:25.839 --> 00:29:29.519
Remember those suitcases I told you that y'all rolled into the relationship?
00:29:29.759 --> 00:29:34.799
Maybe one of those partners has been unpacking that suitcase, unloading it.
00:29:34.960 --> 00:29:39.839
Now, what was once two suitcases turned into one suitcase.
00:29:40.079 --> 00:29:42.640
Now, that one suitcase is no suitcase.
00:29:42.720 --> 00:29:44.799
They done unpacked and worked through all that stuff.
00:29:44.880 --> 00:29:58.480
They healed their relationships with the with their parents, they fixed some things with some friends, all that stuff they once carried around with them, that unforgiveness, that hurt, that resentment.
00:29:58.640 --> 00:29:59.839
They done worked through that.
