A dynamic scholar, transformative leader, entrepreneur, and forward-thinking visionary, Dr. Kia Monique Jones is committed to building a legacy. Dr. Jones is a public health professional and trailblazer born and raised in Jackson, MS. She received her Doctor of Public Health degree with a concentration in Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the CEPH-accredited School of Public Health at Jackson State University. Dr. Jones is dedicated to improving others' lives, advocating for those who are disadvantaged, and using her knowledge and abilities to be an asset to diverse communities through public service. She is committed to the economic growth and revitalization of Mississippi. Dr. Jones is the Founder, President & CEO of For Brown Girls, Inc. Mayor Chowke Lumumba of Jackson, MS presented a proclamation to For Brown Girls, Inc. for their outstanding service to the community in Jackson, MS under Kia’s leadership in November 2017.

As a change agent, Dr. Jones has received many accolades for her humanitarianism. She was a 2018 Top 50 under 40 Award Recipient and 2018 Inaugural Mississippi’s Top Entrepreneurs Award Recipient by the Mississippi Business Journal due to her philanthropy with For Brown Girls, Inc. With prestige, the Women Economic Forum presented the “Exceptional Women of Excellence” International Award in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, to Dr. Jones for her astounding leadership, philanthropic efforts with her distinctive voice and vision that inspires and innovates a new narrative of leadership in all walks of life in the community in March 2019. Dr. Jones was also recognized nationally by Forbes Magazine as one of For(bes) The Culture elite minority leaders in their respected communities and the world at large in April 2019. Dr. Jones has been named one of the Top CEOs in Mississippi by the Mississippi Business Journal. The Dynamic Southern Region recognized Dr. Jones at the 2020 Mississippi Delta Days at the Capitol as the Social Action Trailblazer Award recipient.

Dr. Jones is all about uplifting our youth and women empowerment. She has embraced these ideas and creates environments where people are given the tools and resources to challenge the status quo, push boundaries and make a difference in their lives and communities. A heartfelt “Open Letter to a Girl that Never Settles” is the first novel written by the author published by her female, minority-owned publishing company, Shero, She Wrote Publishing. Dr. Jones’ favorite saying will always be, "You can’t ask for extraordinary and then complain about what's fair’. That’s the tax of being special. Oprah wasn't built in a day."
